(Day #91) April 6th - Jerusalem

As we pulled into the port of Ashdod, Israel we saw  row after row of new cars, trucks, and buses.

We contacted Tyler at work, who contacted his brother Clark, who contacted Aladin in Israel.  We worked it out so that Aladin would pick us up at the port of Ashdod and take us on a tour of Jerusalem.  John and Mary Ann Evans went with us on the tour. We talked Gerald Jones into riding with us to Jerusalem because he was going to use public buses to go both ways.

Aladin picked us up in Ashdod about 7:15 a.m. in his gold seven passenger van.  It was going to take us about a hour and a half to get to Jerusalem.

When I think of Jerusalem I think Biblical, hot, and dry.  It had been raining and the air felt wet and cool.  It only got up to  about 60 degrees.  The roads were modern, the hills and pastures were green, the cities were clean.

That was the McDonald’s sign.  Aladin told us that we could not get a cheeseburger there.  It is against the country’s religion to put meat and dairy products together.

This was the wilderness that Jesus spent 40 days and 40 nights.

We dropped off Gerald at the Jerusalem center.  Then we left for Bethlehem.

That is a white camel that Aladin said usually stays there.

These are Shepherd’s Fields outside of Bethlehem.

The town of Bethlehem.

The entrance had been lowered so that Muslims could not enter the church riding horses.  This is the Church of the Nativity.

They were having mass down in the site where the cave or stable is suppose to be so we could not go down.

We stopped at a olive wood store.  Before we left we had bought a beautiful nativity set.

We went to old Jerusalem.  The first place we visited was the upper room where the last supper was held.
