(Day #5) Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

What a wonderful day! We left at 8:00 am on a very nice motor coach and headed towards the Rain Forest.

As we drove along,we saw a lot of banana plantations. What surprised Dennis and I was seeing pineapple plantations too. The coffee plantations are located on the other side of the country. Chiquita, Dole, and Del Monte all have major interest here.

Just outside the Rain Forest we had to transfer to smaller shuttles that took us to the aerial tram. Each tram held six guests and one tour guide. The pictures do not show just how beautiful the area is. We went one way closer to the ground. On the way back we were higher up so that we could see the "canopy" of the Rain Forest. There was a zip line too.

After the tram ride we had lunch and did a walking tour. The Rain Forest has nine months of heavy rain and three months of lighter rain. It gets about 300 inches of rain each year.

We were very lucky with the weather today. Our guild told us that yesterday it was raining horses and mules. (That is worst than raining cats and dogs.)

The Mitzi Gaynor show was fun to watch. She can't hit the notes in a song like she use to but she still looked glamorous in her costumes.
