(Day #23) Bora Bora

If you were a sun worshiper or loved water activities, Bora Bora was paradise. It had such beautiful water. Many of the hotels on the island were built over the water.

Those of us that were staying on land it was a different story. We took a tender over to the island a couple of hours before our scheduled tour. It was HOT and again the high humidity. There was no town or village but just small stores. These stores reminded me of a strip mall at home. The stores where the locals were selling their souvenirs had no air conitioning. The other stores were black pearl stores. They had the nice cool stores but of course they wanted you to buy their jewelry. (which we didn't)

When it was tour time we were already hot and sweaty. The only seats left were at the front of the blue truck. The tour consisted of driving around the only road on the island. Our first stop was at a home where ladies were making homemade tie dyed wraps. They offered us some cut up fruit but there were so many flies on it, we decided not to eat it. We found out that because they don't have cemeteries on the island that they bury their dead in their front yard. (if you don't want skulls in the house how about burying us in the front yard!)

The high light of our day was seeing the Elders on their bikes. We talked to them for about five minutes before we had to go.
