Our ship docked next to the Aloha Tower. We had not signed up for an regular tours with the cruise ship. Dennis had rented a car and so we set out on our own. Dennis was a great tour guide.

We hurried to Pearl Harbor before the crowds got to big. We went out to the Arizona Memorial.








After Pearl Harbor we headed out again. With my ability to read maps, of course I got him on the wrong road that we wanted. Dennis decided that since we were headed through the island towards the Dole Pineapple Plantation, that would be our course for the day.





After the visiting there we continued to the north shore. It was such a beautiful day, with the sun shining and the ocean so blue. We traveled by Sunset Beach, passed Turtle Bay and on to Laie. Because it was Sunday both the Mormon Temple and the Polynesian Cultural Center were closed. They had gates stopping us from getting even close.







We kept driving down the shore pass Waiahole Beach and then on to the Byodo-In Temple. It has always been one of our favorite places to visit. Besides that we needed one more Buddha to complete our vacation.













We took the Wilson Tunnel through the mountain and headed back towards Honolulu. As we were driving we noticed a highway sign that let us know that we were only about a mile from Punchbowl Crater. We decided to go there before we went back to the ship.

After we returned back to our ship, we had to get cleaned up and ready to leave by 4:30. The cruise ship had set up an evening on the Battleship Missouri Memorial.
It was the Mighty Mo in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945 where the Japanese forces surrendered on her deck formally ending World War II.
