2nd Day Honolulu, Oahu, U.S.A.

We had planned to go back to the Polynesian Cultural Center but with the rain we decided not to go there.

Dennis took us to the Pali Lookout. The wind ALWAYS blows there but I think it was even harder that day.






We continued on down to the dry side of the island. We went pass Bellows Beach Park. Then on to Sandy Beach Park. The Halona Blow Hole was next to the Sandy Beach.









We stopped just outside of Hawaii Kai and looked at the valley below. There was a large mountain and we could tell there was some thing on it. Dennis got out his binoculars and we could see people climbing STEPS all the way to the top.





Dennis continued our tour with a ride pass Waikiki and up to Diamond Head. Diamond Head was closed off so we couldn't go up any farther.

After lunch we went to the Bishop Museum. It had a great exhibit on the Megalodon shark. The sign going into the exhibit said, Megalodon: Largest Shark that Ever Lived. We learned that sharks have been around for 400 million years---about 200 million before dinosaurs ever existed. They were so big that they probably ate whales. They had to eat 2,500 pounds of food everyday. This is equal to 6,667 cans of tuna fish. There were other funny looking sharks that use to be around. One had teeth that stuck straight out of their mouth like scissors and another one with hair on the top of his back.










We took in a show at the planetarium about how the Hawaiians travled by reading the stars.

The museum is named after a married couple whose last name was Bishop. They wanted to have a place where ancient Hawaiian artifacts could be perserved. They wanted for people to appreciate the Hawaii's rich culture.

We ended our day with a stop at Hilo Hattie's. Dennis took back the car to the rental company. It had continued to rain off and on all day.
