We left Salt Lake City on Thursday, August 20th at 1:55 pm and landed in London Gatwick Friday August 21st about 8:30 am.
We had worried about the long flight but it turned out not so bad after all. The hard part was getting use to the time change. We are seven hours ahead of Utah time.
After getting our suitcases and clearing customs, we went and got our rental car. It was a MAJOR JOB trying to get all our luggage in the car. We were glad that Dennis had some idea how to drive on the left side of the road and some understanding of the street signs.
We still got lost trying to find the London Temple (it really isn't in London) but found our hotel. We checked in at the hotel and THEN REALIZED that Dennis suitcase was not with us. Not only was it lost but in it was everything needed for our trip.
It had Dennis insulin, pills, sleep machine, and all our money. We thought our trip was over before it was even started. We could not continue without it!!
It took a long time to get a hold of anyone at the airport but finally we did. The suitcase had been turned in to the lost and found. It seems that we forgot to put it in the car before we drove off. We quickly returned back to the airport. Much to our surprise, everything was still in it including the money.
We set again to try and find the temple and this time we found it. We changed into our Sunday clothes and went into the temple. We decided to get something to eat before doing a session. We took a "lift" down and when the door opened there was Sharon Burr Nielsen sitting at a desk. She is Doug's niece. She and her husband are serving a temple mission there.
We visited for a few minutes, then ate lunch, and then went on a session.
Our bed felt so good that night and we felt so grateful blessed.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -Mark Twain
