Things I Want to Remember about Japan

Here are some things that I want to remember about our stay in Japan.....

1. Shinto religion is indigenous to Japan. It consist in reverence of the spirits of natural forces (god of mountains, god of the sea, etc.) and imperial ancestors.
About 90% of the people practice this.
2. Buddhism religion is practiced by about 70% of the people. The percentage over lap is because many people practice both.
3. The Shinto religion teaches people about how to live their everyday lives. Buddhism teaches them about an after live.
4. Christianity is about 1%.
5. ****I have to tell a funny story about Sharon. Everywhere we went in Japan she was hunting for gifts for her family. When she couldn't find what she wanted, she asked Dennis and I to help her find something Christmasie. Dennis and I just laughed and explained to her that it would be almost impossible to find anything that was about Christmas in a country that practiced Buddhism.
6. They drive on the other side of the road like England cars.
7. They sell cooked corn on the cob at small street stands.
8. Their western toilet seats are HEATED.
9. They have prefectures instead of states.
10. You can purchase from Japanese vending machines - batteries, beer, wine, condoms, cigarettes, comic books, hot dogs, light bulbs, and used women's underwear. (yes you read it right, used underwear.)

FAREWELL JAPAN We really enjoyed the country and the people.
